We at Komoro Distillery are proud to announce that following three years of dedicated effort since the first distillation on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, our first single malt whisky, ‘KOMORO ORIGIN,’ will be available for purchase in limited quantities starting Saturday, November 7, 2026.
On the eve of the release, Friday, November 6, we will host ‘KOMORO = KANPAI,’ a commemorative event featuring a special talk show to celebrate the launch of ‘KOMORO ORIGIN’ together with our fans from both Japan and overseas.
Through our previous pre-order sales, we have received immense anticipation and support for KOMORO from many of you.
‘KOMORO ORIGIN’ is the culmination of Komoro Distillery’s three-year journey of whisky-making, crafted in harmony with the nature, water, and climate at the foothills of Mount Asama.
The name ‘ORIGIN’ reflects our belief that this expression represents the starting point of KOMORO and the very first step of our new journey ahead.
Whisky Nurtured in Komoro, at the Foothills of Mount Asama

Komoro Distillery is nestled in the embrace of nature at the foothills of Mount Asama, situated at an altitude of approximately 910 meters.
The crisp air, the seasonal temperature variations, the pure water, and the serene passage of time at the foothills all work together to gradually impart unique characteristics to the spirit as it matures day by day.
The ultimate question we at Komoro Distillery have faced is how to condense the unique character of this land into a single glass of whisky.
Rather than simply leaving everything to the forces of nature, we have approached every single step—fermentation, distillation, maturation, and quality control— with careful attention to detail in pursuit of a distinct identity that can only be achieved by KOMORO, where the environment and the craftsmanship of our team intertwine.

‘KOMORO = KANPAI’
The ‘KOMORO = KANPAI’ event, to be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, is a ceremony designed to allow those far beyond the walls of the distillery to also celebrate KOMORO ORIGIN.
Whether you be at the distillery, in the town of Komoro, or elsewhere worldwide, we would like to share this moment and celebrate together with all the fans who have eagerly awaited KOMORO.
On the day of the event, we will host a special talk show to share Komoro Distillery’s journey thus far, the passion and inspiration that went into ‘KOMORO ORIGIN,’ and the upcoming chapters of the KOMORO story with all participants.
KOMORO FIRST RELEASE WEEK

To coincide with the launch of ‘KOMORO ORIGIN,’ Komoro Distillery will host a week-long festival, ‘KOMORO FIRST RELEASE WEEK,’ beginning Saturday, November 7, 2026.
During this period, in addition to special programs at Komoro Distillery, we will collaborate with local facilities and shops in Komoro City to offer a variety of initiatives celebrating the launch of ‘KOMORO ORIGIN’, such as tastings, food pairings, town walks, and special experiences.
For this entire week, the festivities will extend beyond the distillery to encompass the entire town of Komoro.
Visitors can experience this new beginning of KOMORO by staying in the area, meeting the locals, savouring the food, and exploring the town.

We plan to expand the site with more information regarding event details and how to participate, beginning on Thursday, July 30.
Product specifications, including the flavour profile of ‘KOMORO ORIGIN,’ the bottle design, and purchasing methods, will also be revealed in stages leading up to the launch.
Going forward, we will use this special site to share the stories behind why we make whisky in Komoro, how our maturing spirits have been nurtured, and the passion that led to ‘KOMORO ORIGIN,’ alongside the voices of excitement and anticipation we have received from many of you.
Craftsmanship at Komoro Distillery

Komoro Distillery commenced its first distillation on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
Our production is led by Master Blender and Distiller Ian Chang.
Guided by the philosophy established by the late Dr. Jim Swan, a deep respect for nature, a scientific perspective, and an intuition honed by years of experience, Ian and his team pursue a unique whisky character that could only be born here in Komoro.
Since the start of operations, we have closely monitored the daily changes in every stage of production—fermentation, distillation, maturation, and quality control—nurturing the distinct aromas, flavours, and lingering finish that define KOMORO.
‘KOMORO ORIGIN’ is the culmination of this journey, and marks the very first step for the name KOMORO as a Single Malt Japanese Whisky.
